INDUS
Individualised, Nowcasting-Based, Dynamic Severe Weather Warning System

With its precise and postal code-related severe weather warnings, UBIMET has become one of the leading providers of weather services in Austria. There are several systems being used to predict disasters caused by severe weather - what makes INDUS so special? Well, with INDUS a new era of weather forecasts dawns, because the system allows for far more exact severe weather warnings compared to what has been possible up until now. Based on mobile positioning, satellite data, weather radar and weather stations it is possible to provide the users with individual and personalised warnings. Inflexible warning levels and general weather forecasts for large regions are now a thing of the past.

A special feature of the logistic system INDUS is the language independence, which will be available in the near future. It allows the user to receive severe weather warnings in any language, independent of the country of residence. INDUS was elected the winning project of the competition "Safe & Secure Vienna 2006" of the Centre for Innovation and Technology (ZIT) in the field Research & Development.
