Severe Weather Server
Precise Real-Time Severe Weather Forecast by Interactive Three-Dimensional Data Analysis
UBIMET gmbh and the Research Centre for Virtual Reality and Visualization (VRVis) jointly developed the "Severe Weather Explorer" - a software for interactive three-dimensional visual analysis of meteorological fields. In addition to 3D visualisation of thunderstorm cells over time, the Severe Weather Explorer enables combined analysis of different data sources (radar, weather stations, model data). Thanks to the fact that it is possible to view thunderstorm cells from all directions and even to make cross sections through the cells, meteorologists are able to make more precise forecasts about the future development and path of the thunderstorm. This means the meteorologists can issue timely and reliable thunderstorm warnings.
