Weather & Traffic
Investigation of the Influence of Weather on Traffic for the Purpose of Modelling in a Traffic Management System
Although it is widely known that the weather influences traffic, this fact has only marginally been scientifically investigated. UBIMET is one of the partners in the project "Weather and Traffic", which is led by the regional Traffic Network Region East (Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region VOR) in Vienna. The project investigates the influence of weather on traffic flow and demand with the purpose of representing this relationship in a mathematical model. The model will be integrated in the already existing traffic management system of the Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region, and will improve the calculations and forecasts of traffic flow.
