UBIMET aims to set new standards in meteorology. Ongoing research and development, alongside with constant improvement of forecasting tools and development of new products, make UBIMET a leader in meteorological services. Our daily work is inspired by the goal of high-precision meteorology.
Since 2006, UBIMET has been part of more than 25 projects, focusing on Agriculture, Energy and Mobility, Smart Cities and Disaster Management. UBIMET develops concepts for energy-efficient buildings, precise weather alerts for Disaster Management or weather models for progressive Agriculture.

Current Research projects
ENERGY AND MOBILITY
- ADA-EE (until 2018): The goal of this project is to apply data analytics methods to improve energy efficiency in buildings, predict future energy needs and prescribe measures to reduce energy usage.
- MobComWeather (until 2016): Exploration of possibilities for utilizing signal quality data of cellular radio networks for precise weather nowcasts.
- Crossing Borders (until 2016): This project promotes interoperable services for electromobility crossing the borders of Slovakia, Austria and Germany.
- CITI-SENSE (until 2016): The project aims at the development of a sensor-based Citizens’ Observatory Community for improving quality of life regarding air quality in cities. Citizens of nine different European cities will be provided with tools for air quality monitoring. This shall empower the population in important decision making processes regarding air quality issues and city planning, and facilitates decision-making.
- DOMUS (until 2016): The aim of this project is to improve the short-term weather and air quality forecast for urban areas, taking into account orographic and urban meteorological data.
- WeGe (Weather & Health): Examining the influence of weather on health, in order to optimize the possibilities of preventive health care for the public.
- Opti-Alert: Enhancing the efficiency of alerting systems through personalized, culturally sensitive multi-channel communication.
- Severe Weather Explorer: Software for interactive, visual, three-dimensional analysis of meteorological fields from different data sources.
- INDUS: Development of an early warning system for individualized, dynamic severe weather warnings based on nowcasting.
- SatcomWeather: Very small aperture terminals (VSATs) access satellites in geosynchronous orbits. Hundreds of millions of measured VSAT signals and throughput records will be investigated, with the objective being to classify stations with optimization potential, optimize thresholds for installations, and derive weather data from the VSAT-measurements.
