Leading with the UBIMET RACE MODEL

The UBIMET RACE model: Our own modelling for reliably accurate weather forecasts and severe weather warnings

UBIMET has developed the high-resolution numerical forecast model RACE in order to be able to supply accurate forecasts for regions with complex topography in real time. With a modelling resolution of 1 km, forecasts that are accurate in terms of both location and time are possible.

UBIMET uses forecast models from weather centres that are global leaders. These global models are updated 2 to 4 times a day and cover the entire world with a resolution of roughly 20 km.

UBIMET RACE Model

UBIMET has developed the RACE model for its customers in order to be able to provide forecasts and severe weather warnings which are detailed in terms of both location and time. It has a resolution of 1 km and enables focus on local weather patterns.

Using high-resolution relief data and its own RMD algorithms

Using high-resolution relief data and its own RMD algorithms (realtime-based microphysics downscaling), the accuracy of the forecasts is further improved to such a level that it is possible for UBIMET to provide accurate forecasts for every individual point on Earth in real time, taking into account hyperlocal conditions.

With RACE RMD, UBIMET has a forecasting instrument that enables us to produce accurate forecasts and provide timely warnings about extreme weather events such as thunderstorms. The meteorologist team at UBIMET continues to develop these models by constantly verifying the model results. In this way, the quality of the forecasts and severe weather warnings is continually improved so that we can provide our customers with individual solutions and reliably accurate forecasts.
