Since 2010 there have never been as many and as extreme severe weather events than last year. The weather expert UBIMET and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uniqa.at\/versicherung\/cms\/privatkunden\/Startseite.de.html\">UNIQA Austria<\/a> take stock oft he severe weather over the last couple of years. UNIQA Austria works with UBIMET to prevent damage. For this reason, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubimet.com\/en\/services\/severe-weather-warnings\/\">UBIMET sends out a severe weather warning<\/a> to UNIQA. Significant: Last year 75 percent more severe weather warnings were sent out compared to 2016. Even though customers often react beforehand and take preventive measures, severe weather caused damage in the amount of 100 million Euro, i.e. the highest value over the last eight years. In total damage caused on that day amounted to just about 18 million Euro\u201c, says Svoboda. Of the total of 12.5 warning messages sent out by UBIMET to UNIQA customers, 70 percent were for thunderstorm\/lightning\/hail, more than ten percent for heavy rain, about six percent for heavy snow and six percent each for heavy snow and storm and five percent for freezing rain.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" id=\"style-css-av-av_one_half-15d750bd1b332b34c6e70b077ebbccdf\">\n.flex_column.av-av_one_half-15d750bd1b332b34c6e70b077ebbccdf{\n-webkit-border-radius:0px 0px 0px 0px;\n-moz-border-radius:0px 0px 0px 0px;\nborder-radius:0px 0px 0px 0px;\npadding:0px 0px 0px 0px;\n}\n<\/style>\n<div class='flex_column av-av_one_half-15d750bd1b332b34c6e70b077ebbccdf av_one_half  avia-builder-el-13  el_after_av_one_full  el_before_av_one_half  first flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding column-top-margin'     ><section  class='av_textblock_section av-av_textblock-2de302bf1aa3cf4c9157dbe6f50ac7eb'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>When comparing Austrian provinces people in Styria had to protect themselves and their property the most. Most severe weather damages were identified by UNIQA Austria in the months of July and August as well as in October (see graph). Svoboda: \u201cIn these severe weather months on average ten times as much damage was caused as in the other months of the year.\u201c In a monthly comparison, most damages occurred in July 2017 with roughly 35 million Euro (see graph).<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/reports\/the-global-risks-report-2018\">The Global Risks Report 2018<\/a>\u201d published by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/\">World Economic Forum<\/a> also confirms the results of this internal audit. In this report experts regularly assess the biggest risk to the world population. Since 2017 \u201cExtreme weather events\u201c rank first. \u201cThis study shows that we have to reckon with higher claims payments on our balance sheet.
