UNIQA offers severe weather alerts with UBIMET

Since 2004 UNIQA – the largest insurer in Austria – has been able to offer private clients exact severe weather forecasts provided by UBIMET through SMS and e-mail. Knowledge about past and future meteorological events is particularly vital in the insurance sector. After all, rarely does a year pass by without damaging storms, floods, hail and snow. Through reliable real-time warnings to affected people, safety measures can be taken and thus significantly reduce potential damage to belongings. The insurer also increases positive consumer contact and customer service.

Eleven years later (in 2015) every second recipient of the UNIQA and UBIMET Severe Weather Warnings shares these warnings with their family and friends.

Andreas Koessl, Chairman of the Board of UNIQA Austria, explains: “Our internal customer survey has shown that the severe weather alerts contribute to an increased safety awareness among our customers and a strengthening of customer loyalty. Moreover, the UNIQA severe weather alert serves as a poster child for customer satisfaction: 99 percent of the surveyed customers are satisfied with the service“
